The Gastineau Channel in Juneau. It separates the city Juneau from the city Douglas.
This channel was named from John Gastineau, and it is often not navigable because of the silt in it.

The Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. This glacier is 12 miles long and located in the Mendenhall Valley.
This glacier is constantly receding every year and it is getting smaller and smaller.

The capital of Alaska is Juneau. The Capitol Buiding is in downtown Juneau.
It has been since 1906, when it was transferred from Sitka to Juneau.
This building was originally built as the Federal and Territorial Building in 1931.

This is the Juneau International Airport. (JNU) Planes are constantly flying in and out of this airport.
This airport is 653 acres with one runway.

This is the Mt. Roberts Tramway. It was built quite a few years ago by a corporation.
This tram goes from 27 to 2000 feet. It can bring you to the top in 6 minutes.
At the top there are trails, observatory, nature center, restaurant, bar, theater, and two gift shops.

This is Downtown Juneau. You see the Mt. Roberts tram also.
Downtown Juneau is a good place to shop. There are many small stores that tourists love.

This is a hiker in an ice cave located in the Mendenhall Glacier.
Many people visit the ice caves, as they are very fascinating with all the cool designs the ice has made.

This is a popular sight to see in Alaska. Cross country skiing is common in Alaska.

This is the state flower, it is the Forget-me-not!
The real name for this flower is the Myosotis. That is Greek for "mouse's ear."
There are fifty species of this flower. Most of the species have 5 petalled blue flowers growing
on straggly stems, that flower in the spring.

Dogsledding on the Mendenhall Glacier. Dogsledding is very popular in Alaska, it is more
popular in Alaska than in any other state. Many people get around using dogsleds, and some
just dogsled for fun or competition.
